SUBMITS PROPOSAL, URBAN LANTERNS, FOR NEW MUSEUM OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN HELSINKI
NO ARCHITECTURE
Urban Lanterns, Kaupunkien Lyhdyt, is conceived as a cultural beacon that seamlessly integrates into Helsinki’s urban fabric. Derived from a single gesture along our site, we propose a design that reinvents the conventional museum, inside and outside, into three articulated volumes, creating dynamic, interconnected spaces. Inside, a spiral ramp replaces traditional segmented layouts, fostering fluid movement through continuous galleries. This design enhances the museum’s permeability, connecting the social space of the city to the cultural space of the museum, and linking the public to design and nature.
