Situated between a canal and a river, this project is conceived as a series of interconnected pavilions to take advantage of the riverfront views while providing intimacy from the neighboring context.
INTERCONNECTED PAVILION CORRESPONDING TO THE CANAL AND RIVER
River House emerges as a composition of interconnected pavilions, each boasting its own distinct height. Its remarkable design seamlessly integrates the breathtaking river vistas into the interior space through a transparent façade, simultaneously ensuring a sense of privacy within.
MASS TIMBER MATERIAL
The pavilions are crafted from cross-laminated panels of mass timber, gracefully elevated above the sloping ridge. This choice of material not only offers superior thermal insulation but also actively sequesters carbon. Each roof pavilion, fashioned from mass timber, is skillfully rotated and sloped to harmonize with diverse internal and external perspectives and functionalities, thereby infusing a sense of uniqueness and site-specific resonance to both views and activities. The pavilions are interlinked and connected with overlapping roofs, fostering a harmonious environment with both openness and living intimacy.
