Location Yamhill County, Oregon, US
Program
Winery, showroom, guestrooms
Area
557 m² (6,000 ft²)
Status
Concept
Located in the heart of Oregon wine country and conceived as a new typology for a winery and boutique hotel, individual pavilions are alternated with exterior garden courtyards into a chessboard plan.
This planning approach unifies a variety of programs into a self-contained 5-minute micro-city, allowing the number of units and clusters to expand over time.

To maximize solar access, the pitched roof canopies rise and fall at varying heights to allow either full-height or clerestory glazing on all four sides of each unit.

As a typology, the development serves as a new model for a complex yet site-preserving plan for rural habitation that is applicable across a spectrum of contexts and geographies.

To maximize solar access, the pitched roof canopies rise and fall at varying heights to allow either full-height or clerestory glazing on all four sides of each unit.
